Maria Gallagher

Maria Gallagher has been a producer for over 20 years working in Los Angeles, New York and Paris on both the production company side and on the agency side of business.

As a freelance producer Maria has worked with directors such as Sam Mendes, Laurence Dunmore, Jordan Scott, Phil Morrison, and David Gordon Green. The short film „Thunder Perfect Mind“ that she produced for Prada for directors Ridley Scott and Jordan Scott, premiered at the 2005 Berlin Film Festival and was featured in Vanity Fair Magazine.

From 1991 – 1996 Maria lived and worked in Paris as the Head of Production for Select, an international advertising agency with offices in Germany, Paris, and New York. Since 1998 she has been freelance agency producer for the boutique agencies Lloyd and Co. and Kraftworks. Both agencies work with cutting edge fashion and lifestyle brands from Gucci to Calvin Klein.

Her background as an agency producer has given her experience in all aspects of international advertising from creating and writing concepts, to marketing and special promotions, to production and creation of print and TV advertising – including post production, special effects, and music supervision – to dealing with the varied tastes and laws of the markets in different countries. It has also allowed her to identify and monitor various trends in beauty, fashion, music, and pop culture in general, and work with highly respected talent such as Lance Accord, Peter Lindberg and Jean Baptiste Mondino.

Aside from her work in advertising she has written children’s books, run a series of successful nightclubs in Los Angeles, produced short films, plays and fine art videos, and is on the board of various artistic foundations including Robbins/ Childs Dance. Her children’s series „Kiss and Make-up“ was published by Scholastic and the series „The Stinky Boys Club“ was published by Grosset/ Penguin. „Half Life“ the art video she produced for artist Marco Brambilla opened at the New Museum in 2001. Currently the latest short film she produced, „Remember Back, Remember When“ with the director Rainer Judd, is on the festival circuit and premiered at the 2008 Rotterdam Film Festival.

Staying interested and involved in these various worlds has given her a familiarity and intimacy with young (and not so young) artist, filmmakers, designer, writers, graphic artists, comedians, musicians, interactive media designer entrepreneurs, hipsters and gangsters.
