Jim Czarnecki

Jim Czarnecki has been an independent „thinking person’s producer“ for over 20 years working in the worlds of documentary features, feature films and television commercials. His work as a producer has garnered an Academy Award, Cannes Advertising Festival awards, and Sundance Film Festival Awards.

Jim was the producer of Fahrenheit 9/11 (Winner, Palm D’or 2004 Cannes Film Festival), and Bowling for Columbine, (Winner, 2003 Academy Award for Best Documentary Feature.) Jim also collaborated with Michael Moore on two seasons of the Emmy-nominated television series TV Nation, music videos for Rage Against the Machine and a series of Anti-Smoking PSAs for Arnold.

Czarnecki played an integral role in cultural milestones such as Pee Wee’s Playhouse and Alex Cox’s Sid & Nancy (1986). One of his digital video feature films, Harmony Korrie’s Julien Donkey-Box (1999), became the first American film to receive the DOGMA 5 certificate from director Lars Von Trier.

He was an Executive Producer at Ridley Scott & Associates from 1999 to 2002 producing television commercial projects for Woody Allen, Martin Scorsese, Spike Lee, an Chris Cunningham among others.

In 2006, the Czarnecki-produced TRUTH anti-smoking television commercial campaign won Best Campaign of the Year at the AICP Award Show. His most recent work with the TRUTH campaign employed the talents of VICE magazine and won bronze awards at the Cannes Lions International Advertising Festival 2007.

In his spare time Jim keeps his finger firmly on the pulse of the music scene. His work as a DJ can be heard in premium New York and Los Angeles venues such as Bar Marmont, Maritime Hotel, Bowery Hotel, and B Bar. He has produces over 100 music videos, recently consulted on the feature documentary „The Dixie Chicks: Shut up and sing“ and is currently producing the documentary feature „Soundtrack for Revolution“ being directed by Bill Guttentag and Dan Sturman. „Soundtrack“ tells the story of the Civil Rights Movement thru its music and features John Legend, The Roots, Alicia Keyes and Dave Matthews.

Jim’s most recent documentary feature „Bigger Stronger Faster“ was at the Sundance Film Festival 2008 and will be released by Magnolia Pictures this year.

The clients he has produces television commecials for include Cadillac, Geico, Calvin Klein, Cingular Wireless, Ford, Verizon, Target, Chase Bank, AIG and American Express. Agencies he has worked with include Crispin Porter & Bogusky, BBDO, The Martin Agency, Berlin Cameron, Grey and JWT.
