Harris Savides is known for his groundbreaking cinematography; from the iconic music videos he created with director Mark Romanek – Madonna´s „Rain“, Janet Jackson´s „Scream“, Fiona Apple´s „Criminal“ – to his varied and celebrated film career. He has shot Hollywood classics such as THE GAME and ZODIAC for director David Fincher and AMERICAN GANGSTER for director Ridley Scott. He is also known for his willingness to take cinematic risks: in his long standing creative collaboration with director Gus Van Sant on the films ELEPHANT, GERRY, LAST DAYS, Oscar-winning film MILK and in his work with independent directors Jonathan Glazer (BIRTH) and Noah Baumbach (MARGOT AT THE WEDDING).
When not shooting films, Harris has lent his eye to commercials working with directors as varied in style but as committed in vision as Frank Budgen, Dante Ariola, Michel Gondry, Spike Jones and Rocky Morton. Wanting the same kind of creative involvement he finds in films, Harris started directing commercials last year.
