Katie Wolfe

Katie’s short film THIS IS HER was officially selected and premiered at the Edingburgh Film Festival in May 2008 and has been garnering acclaim at the 2008 New York and Telluride Film Festivals and the Sundance Film Festival 2009. Katie won filmmaker of the year at the New Zealand Film Festival. The film has been widely praised for its distinctive and beautiful imagery while reflecting the blackly comedic side of the human condition.

Katie Wolfe’s previous experience includes directing episodic television and theatre. She has directed and produced New Zealand’s longest running serial drama SHORTLAND STREET and has been the establishing director for several other television primetime dramas.

Her work with New Zealand’s leading theatre company, Silo, is known for its intimacy, minimalism and beauty. Her production of the American classic THE WOMEN had three critically acclaimed seasons and won Katie a Chapman Tripp Best Director award. Her other works include David Hare’s PLENTY and THE CASE OF KATHERINE MANSFIELD.

Her focus is now on broadening her directing projects to include advertising work, and with the success of THIS IS HER she has quickly established herself as a hot emerging talent.
